Should I broaden my starting hands any playing 8 handed rather than 10
handed in Omaha 8/b?

How about when the table gets down to 6, 5... ?

thanks,

With 8 you should play a little tighter as the pot odds aren't as good. With 6
you can get looser. I don't play 5 because you usually split low pots and lose
full bets.

In my opinion, playing 8 handed is the same as 10. There isn't too much
deviation from your typical starting hands (whatever they may be! Everyone
plays differently). However, I enjoy playing short handed because it
allows you to be more aggressive and loosen up just a bit. It also forces
others to do the same since the blinds are coming around quickly.

If you are the stronger player in a short handed feild, then you will have
a better understanding for the value of certain hands, and play them more
aggressively. Your mediocre lows have better value as well as small or
medium flushes, where in full games you would typically muck these hands.
I think there is a lot more value betting in short handed omaha 8 because
of these factors.

I also believe from past experience that you can scoop many more pots
playing short handed (as opposed to splitting as the previous poster
stated), because weaker players will tend to pay off with 2 large pair for
high, when there is a "backdoor" flush on board, and a low is present.
This is where your mediocre flush cards have more value.

You stated 5 or 6 players. In my opinion, these are the toughtest numbers.
If I am going to play short, I prefer 3 or 4. For some reason, it's easier
for ME to manipulate, but everyone is different. You have to find your
comfort zone. Again, just an opinion.

If you don't like it, please disregard this post.
