Senate Panel Approves Internet--Gambling Ban - NOT THE SENATE, AND NOT AS
A LAW!!!
This title could be misleading - A Bill has to be hammered out between
house and senate and signed by the Prez. Sounds like here a Senate Panel
approved it, not the full Senate, and it sounds like differing penalties
between the House and Senate Version.
This can't be done yet...in fact, the Bill S.627 isn't even up to a vote
yet...this was just a committee meeting.
The FULL SENATE bill is available online. It's Senate Bill 627 - Go to
this site and run a search on Bill S. 627
http://thomas.loc.gov/home/c108query.html
There ya go...it's not hammered out, it's not decided, and it's not
signed. Enough with all the FUD already.
Now what should you worry about? - sounds like a pretty broad brush being
printed, and it's not just credit cards. Could be interesting....
another thing...I'm not the greatest research person in the Govt. web site
- but I don't see a related House Bill (despite what the Reuters article
says about one going thru the House - maybe it was last session) - ...and
they have to both be passed in the same session, not one last year and one
this year
There's still lots of time to let your voice be heard....get going, people.
Try reading the full text of the bill when addressing issues. It's in
committee...that's all.
