Thanks for all the info. The videos helped a lot, and I will definitely
get the book. Couple of questions tho. (1) If someone makes a bet, then
looks away, it generally means they are strong. What if they stare at
the board or table. What does that mean? (2) And if someone bets into
you, then stares you down, I`ve heard that means they are weak, but I
have also heard that means they are strong. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Cleg

There is no easy answer to this. In his book, he goes into detail (I
forget the terminolgy he uses) about the player who knows what they are
doing and is trying to be deceptive, and the person who just naturally
does these things.

It is really up to you to determine from prior play how someone plays a
certain hand and what these actions have meant in prior hands and then
apply them to the current hand.

To number 1, it is my experience that when someone stares at the table,
they are trying super hard not to give a tell. I take this as they
have something, but maybe not the nuts.

To number 2, if someone is staring me down, it usually means they are
weak, so generally I call. This is the most obvious ploy. If they
seem like they know what they are doing. Meaning I have seen them lay
down what I figure was a good hand, and make a few bets when I
suspected they were bluffing, I might take this as someone who is
trying to reverse psych me into making a call or raising, so I would
probably proceed with caution.

It really depends upon the surrpunding circumstances. How much is the
bet, what is their chip stack, what is the pot, what was their previous
behavior, and the like. Tells are not 100% guaranteed. But they are
good indicators you can add to your decision making process.
