i emailed phil gordon my poker god, but he hasnt got back to me yet.. so here is
my  2 questions..

i wanna start a tourney bankroll for a year and see how i do.. (local tourneys
mostly)

so the local tourneys i found best are 25/50 BB to start with 3000-4000 in
chips, is that a good chip count? like for big blinds.. and how many buyins for
a year do i need? for like 30.00 tourneys.. these tourneys are 1 a week.. i dont
want 52x30 right..?

You'll find that time betweens levels is probably more important than the
initial blind to chip count ratio.  Lots of live tourneys increase blinds every
15 minutes which makes it pretty ridiculous.

You also want to find out if any of these tourneys are rebuys (and of that 30
bucks how much is raked).  Most casinos with buy ins this small like rebuys.

Finally not quite sure what the best formula for bankroll is.  You'd need to
know how many players are showing up each week and factor in how likely you are
to place.

Yes, the time of the rounds is the most important thing.  Find that out and let
us know.

I've never gotten a good answer on the number of buy-ins for a tournament roll.
I would think at least $1,000 for $30 tourneys.  I know that sounds like too
much, but you can go on some bad runs that will mentally hurt your game if you
don't have a significant enough BR.

1. In my opinion, your tournament bankroll should be pretty high, if for
nothing other than psychological factors. I would suggest having at LEAST
20 buyins to start with, and that is only if the tournaments are
relatively small (under 150 people). Heres why: you can have a "safe"
bankroll, and if you start off losing (which is normal and to be
expected), then you may look at your roll after a month or so and say
"well shit, I only have 4 buyins left!" Even though you are well within
your standard variences for tournaments, you may look at how much money
you have left and start to get worried, and that will affect your play.

2. 3k-4k chips w/ 25/50 blinds is decent, but it does all depend on the
structure. I'd take 1500 chips w/ 30 minute levels over 3000 chips w/ 15
minute levels. When do antes come in, do they skip any levels, ect.

3. Why are you playing mostly local tournaments? With online, you can
play more tournaments, have a better selection, play whenever you'd like,
ect. A local tournament may not be able to draw that many people, also,
which will limit your bankroll.
