I am thinking of joining The Sands. I know it has been around for a
couple of years but I don't see much reference to it on this site.

Opinions, pros and cons would be very appreciated. They are offering
a very good first time matching, BUT, I want security and integrity
plus a good pool of opponents.

Thanks

Both their poker room and casino are Cryprologic powered. It means that
Cryptologic provide software and let people login to Cryptologic playing
halls. You'll play together with players logged in through another sites.
Caribbean itself provide marketing and promotions but not technical side.
So it's probably not better and not worse than other sites like
InterCasino, WilliamHill etc. (all Cryptologic). Please don't mix casino
promotions with their poker room promotion. You can't wager casino bonus
at poker room.

For what about pool of opponents it's very mixed. You'll find that there
are no more than 200-300 real money poker players peak on weekdays. Some
of them are casino players came to get lucky at poker without good
knowledge of the game. But in shorthanded games even as low as 2-4/3-6+
you may easily run into serious players. Cryptologic run very high games
like J100-200 and many limits between like $30-60. I saw some people of
that games playing shorthanded at lower limits.

Is it just me of have the 1/2 Cryptologic game really changed recently? I
used to see 5-7 people making it to 4th street, lately most of the games I
see are more like 3-4. They used to be very loose.

Rich, you're right about full tables of at least up to 3-6. But I am
talking about shorthanded games where you may occasionally find players
from much higher limits. I think it is because at Cryptologic there are
almost no games of middle stakes during some parts of the day but only
very high and low stakes. So may be when no good high game is going person
may spent some time lower just waiting for his game. I noticed this
several times.
