View Full Version : Borgata Room Rates (Revisited)
I've seen numerous posts about the poker room rates at the Borgata for
$100 weekday, $125 weekend. If I recall correctly, some posted about
getting these rates their first visit to the Borgata. Yesterday, I
contacted the poker room to reserve a room for this rate and the woman
I talked to told me that the only way I could get this rate was by
already having "an account" with the Borgata. When I asked how such
an account is started, I was told I had to play a minimum of 4 hours
to apply. Does anyone know anything about this, in particular any
employees of the Borgata? I was under the impression that there might
be an hour minimum during my stay, but not before.
Thanks,

I obtained a Borgata players card & played at the Borgata for about 6
hours. I called the hotel reservations dept and asked for a room. The
rate for Sat was $325.00 and $175 for sunday. I then asked for the
poker rate and received $125.00 rate for Sat & $100.00 for sunday night.
The hotel is great. I think the trick is to obtain a Players card
before making the reservations.

Interestingly enough, when I called the Bellagio poker room to make a
reservation I was told the exact same thing. I was a bit exasperated, and I
ended up making reservations elsewhere. Then when I played at the Bellagio,
I talked to the card room manager(?) and asked him what the policy was in
regards to the poker rate. He said I was given the wrong information, and
the way it works at the Bellagio is that you make your reservation for
whatever rate the hotel quotes you--even if it's $900/night. Then, if you
play six hours a day, the poker room will call the hotel desk and get your
rate reduced to the poker rate of $125/night. You can play 12 hours one
day, and that will get you the poker rate for two nights, or if there are
two people staying in the room, you can each play for 3 hours a day and get
the poker rate.
Try to talk to a senior person in the Borgata poker room and see if that's
the real deal there too. You might want to mention that's the way it is at
your favorite hotel in Vegas: the Bellagio, and you were wondering if they
would apply that policy to you.

Be careful with this at the Bellagio. I have only stayed there one time -- for
three nights -- having played for 30 hours in their poker room. I set
everything up in advance, spoke to the poker room manager, confirmed the rate,
verified my hours, etc.
When I went to check out I was told that the rate was not what the poker
room had quoted me ($129 or something a night) but the rate of $189/night. I
was on time for my flight -- with little time to spare. The poker room manager
wasn't going to be in for a couple of hours. I was really between a rock and a
hard place. So I ended up paying the higher rate. I don't know if this was
deliberate (I doubt that it was) but it demonstrated to me the need to get
everything set BEFORE I was ready to check out.
