I will swear to this as well.

I made this pledge silently after the first time I realized it was taking
me 10x more effort to see the play of one hand than normal. Not to
mention that these people seem to be attracted to the most mundane,
ordinary occurances and beats that anyone playing online for an hour or
two will see for themselves, if in slightly varying form. But since it
happened to *THEM*, its special, and the world must know.

With the flood of new USENET users onto RGP, I was convinced it was going
to be an epdemic as people posted every "interesting" thing that happens
to them as they play online, minute by minute, addicted to the power of
just a few clicks. Luckily only a few are so conceited to think the world
should care.

I propose punitive damages be applied as well in the form of ignoring
chronically offending users in ALL threads.

This is something I totally agree with. Every time I loose a hand I
pretty much understand why. It's always one of several things: I
played the hand right and the odds beat me (it happens sometimes). Or
I played the hand wrong by chasing the pot when the other player was
obviously showing more strength than I had (happens too often unless
I'm really concentrating and start playing tight). OR I played a pre
flop hand correctly and then didn't fold when the flop was too weak
for what I had (again, not playing tight enough). I rarely play a
pre-flop hand that I shouldn't any more. And I'm folding over 90% of
my pre-flop hands. At least I've learned that lesson.

If I could fix the disipline problems in my play like those THEN I
could start worring about the kinds of problems like :"Should I have
raised or just called here in order to pull another bet out of the
other player. Or is it too much of a risk that he would fold and I'd
get nothing from him". That stuff is great to know and is very
important as your skill as a poker player improves. But the %EV of
knowing that kind of stuff is minor in comparison to the losses you'll
incur if you just play a hand poorly.

Example. I get As 10s so I call pre-flop
Flop comes Ks Qs Jc and I go nuts! If the Jack was a spade I'd have a
royal flush! Unbeatable!! But of course, it's not a spade, it's a
club. But no! I have to go on tilt thinking that I'm unbeatable. We
cap the bets. Why is another player calling and raising me? I'm too
nuts to realize it.

Turn comes Kh and I bet like their money is already mine. KK beats
me, as does KQ, KJ, QQ, JJ. And even if I get another spade those Full
Houses still beat me. But do I slow down and think about it? No, I
cap the bet.

River comes Qd which gives us

Ks Qs Jc Kh Qd

Ok, Now there are a bunch of more hands that beat me. Let's list
them:
KK, KQ, KJ, QQ, QJ, JJ, Kx, Qx What's that? 27 hands than beat me? Oh,
and I have ONE card that could have given me the best hand and I
didn't get it.

My opponents are showing lots of strength by raising. What are the
odds that they have one of those hands? Why was I too stupid to see
it?? We cap the bet again. I guess I was just giving away free money
that night.

I get beat by Kd Qc. So the reason I got beat wasn't because of some
obscure reason that requires the insight of the rec.gambing.poker
folks. I just played really really badly. I learned an expensive
lesson. I now practice analyizing all possible good hole cards on
every single hand, even when I fold, just to improve my card reading
skills.
