NO WAY... does UB have the best software. That statement defies logic. How
can
can a site/software have a zillion problems over the last few MONTHS and
be labeled the best software.Duh.....go figure!

I'm playing on UB today for the first time after seeing the 50% deposit
bonus. The software took a few minutes to get used to, but now I'm really
enjoying it. Very pleasing to the eye and the sound effects are much nicer
than the 'thwack! thwonk! slap!' sounds at party and stars. The downside is
that the lobby and cashier setup is a pile of crap. Oh I'm also up $400 so
I'd have to say the action flops at UB are great!

Well,
The root problem with UB is that it uses Java and M$ has become Java
unfriendly, and the situation is going to get worse over time as M$
continues to try and chip away at Sun Microsystems Java.
A few things UB should do ...
Concentrate on the server side operations, contract out for a plain
generic client side application. Publish the specifications and
standards for the Client side program and make it Open Software
Systems.
Once that is done, set up or have setup up an experimental test server
where all the people developing wrappers for UB poker can experiment
and get their wrappers certified.
What will come about is dozens and dozens of Client Side programs with
customized interaces to suite your exact taste. Also, they can
capture the Mac and Linux and whatever OS you want players.

As well as zillions of customized bots to suite your exact taste.
In addition, this greatly increases a chance of being hacked
(well, they will become much less vulnerable at the end
of this painful process - if there will be anybody playing
at that point).
Bottom line: obscurity is a necessary part of security.

There are bots already. I know for a fact that peeps have Paradise
down
and park bots on the $.50 $1.0 head up table.
There is no need for security. As long as all decisions, all
shuffling and all confirmed transactions happen server side. There is
nothing to hack.
There is no security through obscurity or obfuscation.

I don't think they had a "zillion" problems. I think they had one big
problem. Prior to the recent difficulties, UB was pretty much always as
solid as a rock. They appear to be back to previous form now.

Wow. I know you were just waiting for someone to ask: Do you have any
clue what you are talking about?

No futher questions, but just go to slashdot.org and read up on what
experts in the industry think of security through obscurity.

Yes, the teenagers at slashdot can probably point you to some sites
frequented by security experts. It might be faster to skip slashdot
and go straight there though.

How about they give me a response within 48 hours asking for a refund
from a 10 man tournament that crashed when I was in the top 4. And
tell me where the money from the player's that already busted is
going.
