Ug. Not a fun experience. But at least I learned something
I decided to try my hand at a local casino's (garden casino - san jose,
ca) THE Limit tourney. It was a $40 buy in whith $40 rebuy and a $40 add
on. It was my first LIVE (non-internet) tournement and 3rd time at a
poker room. I was nervous to say the least.
We were in the 3rd or 4th round, I get delt pocket jacks in early position
which turns into an overpair w/ no straight or flush draw w/ 44 on the
table. I'm being bet into by A high. we get to the showdown, both other
players have A high. I go to turn over my pocket jacks, I get too excited
and one of the jacks SLIPS OUT AND ROLLS ONTO THE DEAD PILE!!!!!!!!!
UG... my hand is mucked. I lose. I got a nice lecture from each player
at the table.
After about 10 minutes I calmed down, got my heart off the floor and
enjoyed the rest of the tournament.
I was cursed for the rest of the tournament (which wasn't long) with no
playable hands.
I still ended up having a good time, and I learned a lesson at the same
time. I'll definately go back at try it again. I'll practice turning my
cards over in a calm manner before that though.
