how many bets should an average player win in an hour if they
are playing well.

Should I be happy winning 10-20 bets an hour
or is my play style keeping me from a better win rate?

There are so many type of average players, but a good average player in a
good game could win up to minus one small bet per hour, while the best
players win from less than one small bet to three small bets per hour; the
higher the game the less.

I don't know about everyone else I make about 5 BB/hour hands an hour in the
casino 3-6 game and 3 BB/hour online 3-6 with only one windo open. Part of
it is a guess I have a better table image at the casino than online.

hello Andrew,

4BB/h is my average result, it is on many many hours :-)
Look, Lysdexic is used to win between 3 & 5 BB/h, and I think that the
majority of players is in that case. It means that if you have won a
lot of $$ in an only one session (30BB in an hour for example), think
about it : you will probably loose money in next sessions ! Because in
the long run, it is (IMO) impossible to win consistently 30BB/h.

This subject is 'sensitive'. I started to be a winner when I
understood that I would never win more than 4 or 5 BB/h. Before that,
I was playing in order to win 30BB but only chance can bring it to
you. Be more patient, you will win less at one time, but more in the
long run.

Nice to see some realistic discussion of win rates. My win rate at
$0.50/$1.00 at PartyPoker has been right around 3 BB per hour over 300
to 400 hours (haven't kept detailed records). If I could eliminate all
the leaks in my game, I think I could hit a 5 BB per hour win rate.
But it is difficult to iron out every loose call and ill advised play
when you play a lot. The people who cite win rates of 10 BB per hour
and above are either extrapolating a rush into long term results or are
a little delusional.

Getting back to the original question - how many bets should an average
player win in an hour. The average player must lose at a rate probably
roughly equivalent to the rake. That would be 2 to 3 BB per hour at
PartyPoker $0.50/$1.00. I get that number from a hand win rate of 4 to
6 per hour with each pot raked $0.50.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is "BB"? Are you saying that an average
(or other, whatever) player should win about 4 Big Blinds worth of
dollars per hour? For eample: in a 10-20 game B&M, you should win $40
per hour? In a 3-6 game you should win $12 per hour? Please correct
me if I am worng.
