View Full Version : Who got caught in the Neteller Double Dip problem this week?

I opened up a neteller account so that I can get in some online tourny
action. My first EBT this weekend was $500, with $47 juice, man thats
alot of juice for an insta cash deposit. I used to do those with
Paypal for free. But everybody knows paypal sucks (visit
paypalsucks.com to read my merchant account problems, and account
suspension and freeze on $1k due to a $92 chargeback from a minor
using his parents credit card -- get this, after all said and done,
paypal charged me $15 for the chargeback investigation).
Anyway, come Tuesday morning I get an email from CSR neteller
informing me that they may have done the EBT transaction twice, and
that they will instantly credit back the second charge. However,
instant wasn't instant enough. Now I checked my neteller account and
didn't see the second charge, and called my bank up to inform them
(useless, and waste of time unless I wanted to do an institutional
hold), but the bank said a second EBT didn't happen. So I felt safe
and since the email said "May have", I thought I escaped.
Lo and behold, I check my account today and the 2nd charge came
through, on the day they said the insta-refunds were coming, rather
then the day they said the extra EBT was coming. Now, I start
overdrafting ... $28 ... $28 ... $28 ...
I'm currently on hold with Neteller waiting for CSR.

Uhhh, you need to open a second checking account for online gaming and
then when the Neteller, Firepay, Paypals of the world screw up (as they
always do), it doesn't impact your "real" life. Sort of like having a
separate poker bankroll. Do NOT let these transactional companies have
access to all of your money, limit them to a single account to avoid
problems like this. They always straighten it out, but it takes along
time and your money gets tied up.

I made a transfer last week and it got withdrawn twice but has since been
reversed. I was told that many clients had this happen to them. It's scary.

I can't believe you people don't have a seperate bank account for online
gaming.

Do not take overdraft protection and do not have a CC tied to your "for on-line
use" checking account. Try to limit the amount of $ anyone can withdraw,
transfer, whatever. Also, have this account with a bank where you have no other
accounts/business.

I agree with all of this. The original poster was griping about getting double
EFTs from Neteller and the resulting overdraft charges; I was responding to the
poster who thought the number of checking accounts involved was the problem.

If I ever say those two words again in any kind of legally binding situation, I
hope someone hits me on the head with a hammer and sets me on fire.

You belong to a religion with fascinating rituals, Peg.
