I played Hold Em in Vegas for the first time.
I am a newbie only having played for 5 or six months. I usually play
2-4 at Foxwoods. I have read books by Jones, Helmuth and Warren, and
have been practing on the Turbo software. The last couple of times I
have played at Foxwoods, I felt as if I was at worst the second best
player at my table. I must say that I felt exactly the opposite at
Mirage. I played in a 3-6 game, and I felt I was 6th or 7th best at
most. I held my own the first couple of hours, but the better players
got me by the end of the third hour. So, I still have a ton of work to
do.
I did enter three tournements. I entered the Freezeout at Mandalay Bay
and finished 20th. I had a great time so I ran over the Luxor and
entered their Freezeout game. I somehow managed to finish 5th and in
the money! Two days later I entered at Mandalay Bay again and finished
4th and in the money again!
I played pretty tight in the tournaments, getting a bit more aggressive
each round. I have read that if you play tight, you can get to the
final table but will rarely win because of the chip disadvantage and
that is what happened to me.
I am going out today to buy Sklansky's book on tournaments. Are there
any other tournament books I should look for?
Thanks!
