View Full Version : PokerStars All-Ins Face Up = BAD IDEA

Sorry if this has been covered before. I've only been reading RGP for a few
months. I play an equal amount of time on Stars and Party and from my
experience they both shell out the same amount of "mini" bad beats (which
are normal). The only difference is the way they handle all-ins. Stars, by
showing your opponents cards before the flop, turn, river (depending on
where you both went all-in) puts your mind in "bullet time" while you scream
out "NO JACK" "NO JACK" "NO...WAY YOU HAVE TO BE M F KIDDING ME!!!! Now
with Party, since the opponents cards are face down on all-ins you only have
a second to realize what happened when they are turned over. This is by far
much easier on the mind and you usually just chalk it up to "oh well thats
poker" Although you still might get mad it's no where near the intensity as
Stars (but maybe thats just me). I believe this may be a small/medium sized
contributor to all the "rigged" posts about PokerStars. I acutally prefer
the face down method but I know that some people like the slow drama that
Stars produces. Which way do you prefer?

Face up is just like at the track when your horse is leading a little or
trailing a little. Who could ask for anything more!
I want sumpin for my $10,$20,$30..........-)

Best regards,
Ken
(who has only bet on a horse once and took an hour to get his pulse back to
normal)

I love the excitement of cards up. It's a feature I really can't figure
out why other sites haven't copied.

I prefer Cards Up.

I don't think it would be a big deal to give the option in the software.

I love having the cards face up. If I can't stand the tension I simply click
on some other screen while the showdown is being played out -- and then find
out after the fact whether I won or lost.

Scott,

The face ups are great entertainment. They should flip them up in the cash
games, too. And I'm also often screaming NO JACK.

I prefer to scream at the top of my lungs up to, and when the Jack falls.
I prefer face up. My nextdoor neighbor prefers the more quiet, Party
Poker option.

A quote from my home the other day (don't remember the hand)

Me : "No Ace, No Ace, No...OH S**T ACE!! ACE!!! ACE!!! DAMN IT!!!"

My girlfriend - "You're an idiot"

I like it face up. It is face up at the B & M I play at and it is much more
fun. Wish party had them face up, I was always annoyed they didn't.

I actually think it is worse to have a bad beat when they are down. Seeing
the board and making two pair ot a set or some other reasonably good hand
and thinking you have it won hurts alot more than seeing it as it happens.

I can do without this: "yes, flopped a set of As, turn blank, river blank
sweet... what!?!! a straight A-5 with 4h-5h!!?!?!! FUUUUUCK!!!!!."

No Brainer. Face-up. As previously said: "I wanna see what the fool
thought he could beat me with."

"Oh is that indeed AA."

Definitely face-up better... as stated earlier you're getting more
bang for your buck in sheer drama..." oh the humanity!"

The face up occurs only in the tournaments and is consistent with real
B&M tournaments. The cash NL/PL games are still face down and your
cards are mucked if you lose the hand (provided you don't have to show
first).

I think I like things just the way they are. In a tournament, I want
to know what the other guy had and I don't care if they see what I had.
In a cash game, I'd rather avoid a showdown whenever possible.

Two years ago all the "rigged" theories were about Paradise. Since other rooms
have gained a large share of business ('Stars, Party, UB) they've also taken
their turns.

I don't believe any of them have been attacked any more than the others or that
showing the cards in an all-in situation has anything to do with it.
