View Full Version : The cheats were caught GCA

In the early mid 80's, Lyle Berman and Larry Flynt, amongst others
were cheated in the Golden Nugget card room in Vegas, which Eric
Drache ran. Larry Flynt and Lyle Berman both had 7 figure plus markers
ripped up. Both know they were cheated along with others who were
also. Everyone got their money back and a little more. Obviously
papers were signed to not disclose things. The Golden Nugget card room
was closed down, at that time the biggest card room in Vegas.

Strange the biggest card room in Vegas would suddenly just close? And
it being a place Steve Wynn owned. The action all moved to Ceasars
Palace, which lost all the business when the Mirage (another Steve
Wynn casino, with Eric Drache again running the card room) opened it's
new card room months later. Flynt and Berman know Doyle, Chip and
company are cheats. Go from that premise. Flynt at one time in the
80's ran a high stakes stud game in his mansion. All the boys Vegas
boys played there. One day Flynt had them all thrown out by his
security force, all packing semi or automatic weapons. The reason,
CHEATING. Some understanding was later agreed upon, but as Rod Pardey,
a player in the game when this happened told me, he was the only one
Flynt didn't negotiate with.

Hey Vinny

What's your theory on WHY the biggest poker room in Vegas at that time was
closed, if this was not the case? The Golden Nugget was the biggest and best
poker room in Vegas for many years in the 80's, then suddenly just closed.
Quite a coincidence, huh?

Flynt was cheated in Vegas by the Vegas boys and he knew it. Then he
invited them to his home to play?

They played at Flynt's home and he ran them off for cheating and then
played with them again in Vegas?

Which was it? What am I missing here?

Russ:

When I played at the Golden Nugget in the mid 80's there were fewer
than 10 tables, not the biggest room in town. The Union Plaza had more
tables.

When the room closed it moved over to the Horseshoe, which had just
bought the Mint. Maybe Steve just conceded the business to Jack.

Theory? Is that what it is? You call people cheats based on
something you theorized? You scum! Now we know where you get your
information. Out of you twisted, jealous mind. People beat you so
they are cheats. You are another loser that blames others for their
plight in life. Go back to the zoo where you belong.

Lepore, do you have a psychological illness where hate overcomes logic?

Please tell me what the biggest game in the Union Plaza was? $6-$2,
possibly? I was there and seem to have forgotten since I didn't
bother. The Nugget had the biggest poker room in town at that time no
matter what you care to state. And the Nugget did have more than 9
poker tables.

An enigma in a puzzle? This is a question many are trying to figure out about Flynt.

Lepore:

There is no logic to your question below, only a degree of hate. Do you
have a sane post to make regarding cheating and criminality in the
gambling world? Remember, during the early days in Las Vegas no
casino was built on honesty and trust. Do you think that offshore,
unregulated
poker internet sites were built on honesty? Logic and history seems to
dictate
that both the players and site owners will try to maximize their profits
in any dishonest way possible. This is especially true when regulations
or banning is just around the corner. It seems to me that the majority
are being preyed upon as usual. The love of poker overcomes our logic to
accept the probability of cheating and criminality. We come up with all
sorts of reasons to play in suspicious venues such as: They already make
enough with rakes; good players can make money; the statistics are within
normal parameters; I am good enough to overcome cheats; it is too
complicated to program robots or set up real hand manipulation; no one who
is illegally profiting will post on RGP to refute the probable truth.

Regardless of.....say.... Georgiev's motives and well-being, a healthy
cynicism
of both B&M and internet poker sites may promote the seeds of a better
gaming climate sometime in the future.
