Well, what I wanted to accomplish has in fact been done. PokerStars DID ban
the player in question, and I appreciate that they decided to follow through
on this matter. Contrary to what "Anonymous" may think, that is all I
wanted to accomplish. Below follows an email from PokerStars support
concerning this matter, which I now consider closed (A duplicate post can
also be found in the original thread):
Hi David -
We read your post on rec.gambling.poker and investigated the matter.
The original complaint that we got about Marie1940 was that she was
"begging". Our standard policy in that case is to issue an initial warning,
and
then if there's a second complaint, we remove the beggar's chat.
The second complaint did not come in until October 11th - two days
after "she" had scammed you (on the 9th). At that point, we revoked
her chat privileges. Unfortunately, we get enough of these complaints that
unless the complainer specifically alerts us that there's a scam going
on, we simply treat it as a begging complaint. We quickly review the chat -
see that the begging is taking place, and remove the offender's chat.
However, after your complaint (and post to r.g.p.), we went back and
reviewed the chat record carefully. She clearly misrepresented who she
was, which is fraud - unlike simple begging. Therefore, as is our
policy, we have closed her account.
If you'd like, we'd be happy to send you a PokerStars hat and/or
t-shirt as a small compensation for the loss you suffered. It's not $100
but it's
something. Just let me know and I'll have them sent to you.
One final point - you suggested that you thought the "anonymous" person
harrassing you about this issue on r.g.p. might be a PokerStars
employee. I can assure you that it's *extremely* unlikely that it was one of
our
employees. We have strict policies against that, and I would not want
to be the PokerStars employee found doing it.
Again, I'm sorry that you got scammed on our site, and be assured that
Marie1940 won't be back. If the same person reappears under a
different nickname, they'll be gone again.
We do appreciate your business here at PokerStars and hope you'll
continue to play here.
Best regards,
Lee Jones

P.S. You have my permission, if you wish, to post this email to r.g.p.
I would only ask that if you do so, you post it in its entirety. Thanks.
